Born in Bruges in1960, Belgium, Henk Callens discovers photography as an art expression at the Royal Arts Academy, where initially he was supposed to learn to draw and to make paintings.
Obviously, those last art disciplines did show him the way to see the real image differently,
to approach any subject with a photographic creative strength.
“My student heart did never quit me, in the way that I need to make my personal photographic research about some subjects. I do admire the aesthetic and sensuality of the human body, which I’m likely to work out in a scenery or to develop with accessories such as plants and flowers.”
The photographies of 1996 has been exhibited with life size formats, at several prestigious places in France and in the USA, from which the “ART 54” Gallery in New York’s Soho district.
